https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HBXTsuNzs9I Deepti Gurdisani Oct 2020. The first few minutes gives the game away. Paraphrased 'I am a public health clinician who has not seen a patient in a while '

Scott, you are a nurse what right have you to disagree with the eminence of the medical profession ! Just plain arrogance, do they get it a medical school? Have to say its not all clinicians who are like that, but some do get uppity when a nurse has a doctorate and speaks their mind. A case in point is John Campbell, 3 million Youtube subscribers and does an excellent job, but some in the medical grouping attack him, I suspect on two counts daring to use the prefix Dr and secondly destroying the mystique of medicine.

In short I suggest the issue is professional arrogance and protectionism. Of course, I find arrogance is deployed to divert attention from a weakness, perhaps, almost certainly, you were a threat to her with a far wider range of skills.

What a horror story! I feel so very sorry for you. What gutless, morally weak people you have encountered on your journey. I think the biggest disappointment in all of this is discovering the total lack of integrity in your colleagues. And everybody is just “going along”, “not rocking the boat”. And as for Deepti et al., who is clearly out on a vengeance, “hell hath no fury like a woman scorned”. I so hope the present position pans out for you. It is of little solace that you are in the company of the best and bravest❤️

Hugs. I know they don't pay the bills or repair relationships tested to the limit when there is immense financial and mental strain but hopefully acknowledgement and empathy can help mentally. I am another in academia but working as an associate, trying to push the boundaries and educate the (many but not all) brainwashed students, trying in vain to have them question the reality of what they 'believe' whilst watching the horrors which are happening actually within the Universities themselves with the few I have time for, not daring to say a word, just looking to escape.

I never worked in academia proper, but in a similar environment and organisation. Academics have always scrapped for influence, power, grants etc, and in some way the fights were fierce because the stakes were relatively small. The rules of engagement were relatively respectable and contained within the ropes. Now it seems the gloves came off in the last years of the pandemic wars and all dirty tricks were permissible, especially the use of social media as a weapon and getting people fired. I cannot decide whether the impetus for this new modes of fighting eachother came from within because it was available, or from HR depatrments pursuing diversity agendas etc,, or from higher up the food chain, like the politicians. I guess probably a variable mix of all these.

Utter madness, how you have managed to stay sane in all this speaks to your character. So many now live detached from reality and those around them feed this dillusion or stay silent. FDIA characterises this brilliantly.

I hope you can move on and are able to complete your current role. Sending much support.

P.s. just checked out Deepti on X. There is no hope. … a post as recent as March 7:

” Our daughter performed a monologue for drama class today. The teacher asked her if she could unmask so she could watch her facial expressions. Daughter explained that she only unmasked outdoors. The class went outside to watch her perform.

Inclusivity is possible if people care”

Poor daughter.

What a terrible experience. It really makes me so angry. Hopefully you have come through the worse and times ahead will be better. Good luck and thank you.
