Re: " However, until like-minded people band together, identify and provide appeal-experienced legal support and begin the process of unravelling what I for one believe to be a gross miscarriage of justice…" The like-minded, aka free-thinking people are already at the margins of the mob that has, since 2020, replaced society. Any independent-minded press has long-since been replaced by Orwellian-propaganda as Assange starts his 6th year in jail for the crime of doing journalism. It's a fine judgement here that if you were to stand up for Lucy would you be cancelled and debanked as those who have pointed out that transitioning vulnerable teens is not "gender affirming" but sterilisation? I note that my share to your post has received all of 45 views and no likes.

I agree with everything except for your comment re Assange, who is certainly 'victim' of external pressure to punish for leaks (some of which did endanger people, such as informants, gay people, people with HIV/Aids in Islamic countries) and should not be extradited, but has been accused of sexual assault, not journalism. And if that was a fit up, it was done in the most tenuous and laughably weak manner imaginable.

It's a very difficult time. We are awash with so much information, our selection biases take over and there's even a Pride in it with many. I have a lot of hope Letby will walk free, it just infuriates and appalls me how vexatious the arguments are, how much (ie how little) it takes to condemn someone to the point no humanity is recognised, and that she will emerge highly traumatised, with her childbearing years likely snatched away

My study of the evidence in this case has brought me to a different conclusion than that of the jury. I hope there is a swift appeal.

Please read the articles of Dr. James Egan, an Irish medical doctor (retired) who analyses every istory, treatment, death, of the premature babies Lucy Letby is accused of killing.

I just want to say that I’m so glad to find your blog on this case. A real and proper analysis that should have been done by her defence team.

I feel that we are witnessing a modern day witch hunt, character assassination and an unprecedented miscarriage of justice helped on by the media and the Facebook mob with their unconscious bias, misconceptions and their inability to separate their emotions from logic.

Being Dutch, am reminded of the case of Lucia De Berk, a Dutch pediatric nurse convicted of murder, who eventually was exonerated. See for details the cia factbook https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lucia_de_Berk

Exactly... this is a case where they found what they wanted to find... not what really happened. It wasn't helped by the fact that the expert witness (Dewy Evans) insinuated himself into the case. Police should have sought out a currently practicing specialist in neonatology NOT a retired paediatrician with practically zero experience with neonates who turned up biased and was financially motivated to steer the investigation in whatever direction might fund his 'expert witness' hobby.

In many a case here where innocent people were convicted, i found police just trying to squeeze ill-fitting facts into their picture of crime and perpetator. They do not seem particularly equipped with knowledge of forensics or psychology and have been found to be omitting crucial evidence that did not fit their scenario.

Actually I am beginning to see a lot of posts on Twitter gaining likes questioning the soundness of this conviction, no doubt helped by this blog.

I'm one of those. I'm an ordinary person that has nothing to offer other than my support but I hope there are people/experts that are able and willing to fight this case.

Hell, I don't know whether she did it or not, but I've been listening to The Daily Mail trial notes and it seems to me the case against Letby is really weak... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pe57wqSfHaM

Thanks for taking the time to analyse the case materials and report your findings. I was unaware of the Letby trial until the day of the verdict. When I scanned the superficially reported case, I saw a parallel to the way the NHS and its staff have played a massive, damaging part in COVID and the demise of the service. I used it as a parallel, to make a point. Your reporting, which I came across just hours after my tweet thread, demanded that I append my thread but also still supports my point about what the NHS is and how it and those in it work.

I am amazed by the verdicts in light of your reports, but I am not surprised at the possibility of collusive actions in the NHS to cover up failures by finding a scape goat. This casts the accusers in a totally different light. I should have known better than to assume anything about the mainstream reporting was factual.

Are you in contact with the defence team and able to ensure they have seen your analysis?

Totally agree with your Post. Lucy caused waves by pointing out deficiencies within her Hospital environment - not liked and vilified because of this, I strongly suspect. All power to those calling for an Appeal and/or a re-trial for Lucy.

I feel extremely uneasy about this case.

I have first hand experience of the depths of depravity of the NHS when it comes to protecting their own interests and covering up. Dr Scott McLachan mentions the restrictions that were on the defence barrister that limited much of what he could examine and present at trial- all this unfairness and prejudice happens in the months and years in the run up to trial but it serves to deny due process and corrupt the entire proceedings. Once at trial, all this is forgotten about but the trial has now been rigged to ensure one outcome. Dr Scott refers to NHS lawyers present at court, they would undoubtedly have had a big influence and controlled the direction of proceedings so much so that the outcome is all but guaranteed

I believe, this is an obscene case of reputation management.

On no way on a scale anywhere close to Lucy's case, I too ended up in court through the NHS's bullying and suppressive steps. By the time it came to court, the whole process had been rigged against me by the NHS which meant it was impossible for me not to be found guilty:

https://patientcomplaintdhcftdotcom.wordpress.com/

And when my case came to civil court, once again, like at my first trial, there are many parallels with Lucy's case: Hired gun bogus experts, a false narrative, smear campaign, contempt of court, tampered expert evidence, non disclosure etc etc

Nothing is beyond the pale when it comes to our grubby corrupt NHS

The mainstream reporting on the case mentioned beatings of babies. Perhaps there really were a few babies abused and murdered. Surely the jury and judge werent so stupid as to ignore evidence presented, when the standard of conviction is "beyond a reasonable doubt"?

That is no reason for the hospital to dump all the deaths onto this nurse.

Does anyone know why this took 7 years to come to trial, other than the usual Covid excuse?

Did Lucy Letby keep neonatal medical records under her bed because she wanted to mount a case against an insanitary hospital environment at the CoCH which was causing multiple infections? Has she been targeted because she was a potential whistleblower against the NHS?

Expand full comment

Quite possibly - she may have wanted to examine closely Records of certain babies in the quiet of her own home, to see if there were inconsistencies and/or mistakes in their care. Does that make here a vile criminal ? I obtained Medical notes on my Parents and Partner because I wanted to FIND OUT for myself the truth of the care ( or lack of) carried out for them. Reason - as above, to check care. Lucy most likely was very diligent in her work and also conscientious thus answering why se had the notes at her home. Maybe she flouted Hospital confidentiality “rules” forbidding Staff removal of notes - BUT, I totally get it. She probably had her own suspicions of poor practice at her place of work. Who is / are the true criminal(s)….QED.

A group of MD's giving sub-par care, probably because of conditions outside of their grasp. They see premature babies under their care die, too many in their opinion.

Doctors are - in general - not good at looking in the mirror and admitting they are at fault. (Maybe this should be taught in med school.) Which means these doctors start looking for possible explanations - not including themselves in that process. They zoom in on the nurse who works so many shifts and, because she is one of only two preemie-qualified nurses, is on the NICU ward a lot. And guess where the premature babies died ? On the NICU ward.
